Brazil’s special ports department (SEP) has launched a 63.5mn-real (US$35.5mn) tender for dredging at Ceará state’s Fortaleza port.

Interested parties have until March 26 to request clarifications and must present proposals on April 8, according to the bidding rules.

The tender is open to international firms and the contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder.

Including Fortaleza, SEP has launched a total of 15 tenders under the national dredging program which is being financed by the country’s growth acceleration plan PAC.

Of the 2.7bn reais PAC has allocated to restructure and modernize the country’s ports, a total of 1.4bn reais is earmarked for the dredging program.
