Dredging of the Broadwater near West Crab Island is expected to start today and the sand will be used to repair damage to Surfers Paradise beach.

About 30,000 cubic metres of sand will be dumped on the beach thanks to the $1 million in dredging work, which is due to be completed in October. There are plans to spend $4.2 million on dredging projects for the Broadwater this financial year.
