Army Corps New Orleans to Spend USD 155 Million on Dredging (USA)

The New Orleans District of the Army Corps of Engineers has revealed it intention to invest in projects dedicated to fixing flooding damage on the Mississippi and Atchafalaya rivers.

Having more than a half billion dollars at its disposal, the Army Corps says its plan includes the following investments:

– $257 million in levee and structure repairs,

– $155 million in dredging,

– $74 million in channel improvements and

– $60 million in other structures.

The corps district says the work has already been initiated or will soon commence on many of these projects and it is expected that a great deal of the undertakings will be completed by the end of this year.
