According to the Lautoka City Council,the Vunato River dredging will begin once the weather clears.
“We want to lessen the amount of water that travels through the river and that can only be done through dredging,” stated Praveen Bala, the Special administrator.
On Wednesday Mr Bala accompanied Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki on a tour of the river.
The river mouth is blocked by mangroves and debris.
