Governor Inks Captiva Beach Renourishment Bill

Governor Rick Scott signed into law a $70.8 billion dollar spending plan for Florida during an event in St. Johns County.

The General Appropriations Act for FY 2012-13 provides nearly $22 million for statewide beach management projects. The Legislature provided funding for the top seven beach projects of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s local government funding request priority list.

The Captiva Erosion Prevention District’s upcoming beach nourishment project was included in the top seven beach projects. The District will receive $4.5 million from the state for the approximately $18 million Captiva Island beach renourishment project.
