The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting public comments on plans to place sediment in two ocean disposal sites near Yaquina Bay.

The Corps maintains the Yaquina Bay federal navigation channel to federally authorized depths by periodically removing naturally occurring sedimentary material. There are two ocean-dredged material disposal sites; one north and one south of the entrance to Yaquina Bay.

The Environmental Protection Agency is in the process of designating the sites for sediment disposal.

When the sites are officially designated, the Corps plans to place material removed from the channel in one or both of the sites.
