Blaney Street wharf is getting a $1.75 million boost, says salemnews.com.

The Blaney Street project will extend the pier and dredge the surrounding waters.

The $1.75 million will cover the first phase of dredging and extension of the pier.

Blaney Street dredging will allow the city to attract new, larger ships to enter the port.

It’s another big step in making Salem’s port a much more active waterfront,” Mayor Kim Driscoll said.
