On June 30, CCCC Shanghai Dredging Co., Ltd. signed a contract for Section H2.5 of Phase 1 of the 300,000t channel project at Lianyungang Port, with a value of 259 million yuan and a construction period of 13 months.
The project involves the dredging of Xuwei inner channel, Xuwei S0+000ï½žS5+000 channel and Xuwei S5+000ï½žS19+909 channel, with a designed bottom elevation of -13.3 meters and total dredging quantities of 21.776 million cubic meters. It is scheduled to be initiated in late June 2012 and delivered in late July 2013. Now the companyâ€™s project department is organizing staff for project preparations to ensure punctual initiation.
According to sources, located on the southwest bank of north Jiangsuâ€™s Haizhou Bay in the Yellow Sea, Lianyungang Port is the most economical and convenient marine outlet along Lianyungang-Lanzhou Railway and Lanzhou-Urumqi Railway, one of Chinaâ€™s main coastal hub ports, as well as a major port for outward transport and export transport of energy in the center of the coastal region. The project will play a significant role in building Lianyungang Port into a great international hub port.
