The dredging project at the Dania Cut Off Canal has hit rock bottom, according to sun-sentinel.com.
David Roach, the director of the Florida Inland Navigation District, the project’s major funder, said: “We hit some harder rock than we had planned on, but we’re going to have to bring in a different bucket on the dredge that’s got some teeth on it that can dig through the rock.”
The project will deepen the canal from 10 to 17 feet over a mile-long stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway.
The completion of this project is scheduled for a February 2013.
