Daniel Vinent, the portâ€™s Director of Planning and Development, introduced plans for the capital development project at the Itaqui port.
This program includes spending of $3.2 billion to overhaul the port operational infrastructure, according to thebulletinpanama.com.
The plan includes:
- refurbishing existing berths,
- building 16 new ones,
Vinent also stated that the expansion project will be completed in a series of stages over the next 20 years.
This major development program, when completed, will increase cargo handling capacity to 150Mt/y from the current 14Mt/y.
