WRRDA to Provide Benefits for Louisiana

Congressman Bill Cassidy recently applauded the passage of the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) in the House of Representatives. This bill authorizes many critical infrastructure and hurricane protection projects for Louisiana, including Morganza to the Gulf.

The conference report includes many reforms spearheaded by Congressman Cassidy.

This is a huge step forward in making sure our communities are protected from future storm surge like Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Secure ports, well-maintained harbors and adequate infrastructure means more trade, which means more jobs. I am proud to have played a part in pushing this long-awaited bill through Congress. Many of Louisiana’s coastal restoration and hurricane protection efforts depend on it,” said Cassidy.

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) said: “The Conference Report adopts important reforms and the Morganza to the Gulf project championed by Rep. Cassidy. His knowledge and experience working with the Army Corps of Engineers, and on flood control and coastal restoration issues, helped us to craft a legislation that will benefit millions of Americans.”
