Beach Renourishment to Protect Brevard County from Storms

Since the Atlantic Hurricane Season began on Sunday, the Brevard County announced that it has spent millions of dollars to prepare for it.

For more than five months the County conducted a beach renourishment project to get Space Coast ready for a potential storm.

MyNews13 quoted Mike McGarry, Brevard County beach project manager, as saying: “This project is in place because large stretches of Brevard only had seawalls, very narrow beaches, and large structures were at risk.”

Based on the previous experiences, the County leaders think they’ll have to do the same sand renourishment project six years from now.
