Police Arrests 16 Workers for Conducting Illegal Mining at Kharghar-Kamothe Creek

The police of Panvel tehsildar confiscated five barges that were conducting illegal mining in the creek between Kharghar and Mansarovar.

Apart from the barges, the police arrested 16 workers for taking illegal actions, The Times of India informed.

An NGO, Awaaz Foundation, have complained over the dredging activities and expressed their satisfaction over the quick reaction of the authorities.

The police has taken the barges, suction pumps and other equipment which was used in the mining.

Investigation continues to find others involved in this crime.
