Dredging Operations Revised for Royal River

Dredging Operations Revised for Royal River

The New England District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has recently awarded a contract to dredge the channel and anchorage of the Royal River Federal navigation project (FNP) in Yarmouth, Maine.

Dredging operations have been revised to commence on October 20, 2014 and will be completed by April 1, 2015. The dredged sediments will be placed at the Portland Disposal Site located approximately 15 Nautical Miles from the mouth of the Royal River FNP.

Included with this notice is a revised map specifying the Haul Route to be used by the dredging contractor transiting to and from the dredged material placement site.

The map is revised from previous versions to avoid shoals and obstructions along the haul route. The revision to the haul route reflects one moved waypoint at the south end of Broad Sound (slightly to the south and east) and has added one waypoint east of East Cod Ledge in Casco Bay.

All fishing gear must be removed from 200 feet either side of the specified haul route centerline to avoid damage to or loss of fishing gear due to dredged material disposal operations.
