New Seattle Business Unit Leader

Moffatt & Nichol has announced a new Business Unit Leader in the Seattle, Washington office. Mr. Bruce I. Ostbo, PE, SE, assumed the role October 2014.

He is a structural engineer and engineer-diver who joined the firm on July 11, 2012, bringing more than 30 years of local, national and international experience in bridge design, marine structures, and inspection and rehabilitation.

Mr. Ostbo has managed the planning, condition survey and inspection, repair and modernization design, new design, and design-build process for port authorities, private sector clients, and government agencies, including the U.S. Navy, the Maritime Administration, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

He has also participated in the design of complex concrete or steel bridges as project manager or lead engineer on projects for various state Department of Transportation offices and local agencies.

“I’m excited to bring my wealth of experience to the Puget Sound market and expand Moffatt & Nichol’s reach to a broad range of clients and projects in the Pacific Northwest region,” said Mr. Ostbo.

Mr. Ostbo is a contributing author of the American Society of Civil Engineers’ “Timber Waterfront Structures – Standard Practice Manual for Inspection, Protection, and Repair.” He is also a contributing author of the ASCE Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice No. 130, Waterfront Facilities Inspection and Assessment.
