Picture of the Day: Ellicott 1170 in Manatee Harbor

Cavache Inc., one of the leading companies in dredging industry, is using an Ellicott 1170 dredge to perform the 40ft. maintenance dredging project for Manatee Harbor.

Since the works began some two months ago, the 2010 Maya Caelyn is dredging the entrance channel, turning basin and berthing areas in Manatee Harbor, and will continue until late January 31, 2015.

The dredge to be used for this project is a 16-inch Ellicott 1170 conventional dredge, configured with the dredging ladder attached to the forward end of the center hull section.

Port Manatee is the closest U.S. deepwater seaport to the expanding Panama Canal, serving bulk, breakbulk, container, heavylift, project and general cargo customers. The port generates more than $2.3 billion in annual economic impact for the local community, while supporting more than 24,000 jobs regionally.
