Little Lake Restoration Plan Involves Dredging

A major milestone was met when the fundraising campaign for phase one of the restoration of Little Lake was finished, announced Door County Daily News.

With help from the Sturgeon Bay Rotary Club, Door County Community Foundation, and the City of Sturgeon Bay, over $300,000 was raised to begin work on an engineered wetland.

Enviromental Protection Committee Co-Chair Roger Anderson stated that the engineered wetland will help Little Lake before the next phases of the project.

The Committee Co-Chair expects heavy fundraising and grant writing to be involved for the next phase of the project, which includes dredging and could cost up to $1 million.

Work on the engineered wetland is set to start in early spring, according to Door County Daily News.
