DSC Dredge Safety Days Held

DSC Dredge, engaged in the engineering, automation and manufacturing of cutter suction and underwater pump mining dredges, has spent the past three years developing a corporate culture of safety within its operations.

The company began enhancing its safety program in 2012 with the hire of Jeff Yaun as the new Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental Manager.

As DSC’s safety program evolved, in 2014 the company rolled out new initiatives with a primary focus on minimizing risk for jobsite-related injuries. DSC implemented new procedures, including a job safety analysis (JSA) process.

In 2015 DSC took the initiative one step further as it held an inaugural Safety Stand-Down Day at each of its facilities. During the Safety Stand-Down Day, all work was shut down for an entire day as the focus was placed solely on safety training. DSC’s Reserve and Poplarville facilities held their Safety Stand-Down Days in February and the Greenbush facility held its Safety Stand-Down Day in March.

DSC Dredge, LLC advances the engineering, automation, manufacturing and quality of cutter suction, clamshell, and underwater pump mining dredges. The company operates from three major manufacturing facilities located in Reserve, LA, Poplarville, MS and Greenbush, MI.
