French President to Attend New Suez Inauguration

The President of France, Francois Hollande, will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the New Suez Canal, scheduled for August 6.

This news was revealed after Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi met with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius Saturday at the Cairo Presidential Palace.

At the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual concerns.

About 228.260 million cubic meters of water-saturated sand has been dredged so far, and this represents 88.47 percent of total 258 million cubic meters that should be dredged as part of the project.
