VIDEO: New Knoop Baggerwerken’s Project

Knoop Baggerwerken BV, a Dutch-based company specialized in wetlands dredging operations, has won a major restoration contract in the “Nieuwkoopse Plassen” (Nature Reserve) area, located in the western Netherlands.

The contract, worth over $1 million, is part of the LIFE-Project “New LIFE for Dutch Fens”, a collaboration between Vereniging Natuurmonumenten and Staatsbosbeheer.

The work will be carried out with amphibious excavators and the dredged material (peat, reed, cuttings) will be pumped with a soil pump (shredder pontoon) to a disposal site.

This project, aimed to improve the quality of fens in the Netherlands, will last about two years.
