‘Changing Shorelines’ Next Week

A coastal science forum featuring discussion from experts on the changing dynamics of the county’s coastlines will be held at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, WA on Tuesday, November 17, from 6-8 p.m.

The event is titled “Changing Shorelines: Coastal Erosion, Flooding and Sea Level Rise,” and will be hosted by the Grays Harbor County Marine Resources Committee.

This event gives community members a great opportunity to hear first-hand what threats erosion, flooding and rising seas pose to our county, but, more importantly, how we as individuals can help reduce risks and protect Grays Harbor County’s beaches,” said Casey Dennehy, Westport resident and Washington Coast Program Manager for the Surfrider Foundation.

Speakers will include George Kaminsky, with the Washington Department of Ecology, Peter Ruggerio of Oregon State University, Julia Sanders of Global Ocean Health and Molly Bogeberg with The Nature Conservancy.

The forum is free and open to the public.
