Murmansk to Get New Berth

Russian mining and metallurgical company, Norilsk Nickel, is beginning reconstruction of its Murmansk Transport Division mooring facilities.

According to the company, reconstruction of the second berth (over 300 meters in length) together with dredging will double the cargo flow of the facility. The project is estimated to be worth around $22.8 million.

The new berth will be able to accept ships with the draught of up to 11.2m.

This will allow the company to handle two or three vessels simultaneously, depending on their size and capacity.

Commissioning of the facility is planned for the fourth quarter of 2016.
