SOMIT Took Part in Koper Port Dredging Project

SOMIT SRL, an Italian dredging and marine contractor, recently carried out the deepening and sea-bed leveling work in the access channel of the Koper Port, Slovenia.

The dredging, funded by the European Union, included removal of approximately of 14,000 m³ of clay material in order to achieve the depth of 15m.

Due to the complexity of the work, coming from particular soil characteristics, required precision and interference with port traffic, SOMIT decide to utilize the self-propelled unit ORTENSIA II, equipped with Liebherr HS855 crane and a new sea-bed leveling system specially designed for this type of material.

The work was completed within the project deadline and budget.
