Beacon Marine Construction, LLC., a Massachusetts based full service marine contractor, has completed a dredging and beach nourishment project in Osterville, MA.

The project included removal of approximately 1000 CY of material from the Seapuit River and West Bay.

The dredged material was then beneficially reused to protect Indian Point from continuing erosion.

We took the opportunity couple of days ago to have a quick chat with Jon Hagenstein of Beacon Marine, who provided us with invaluable insight into the recently completed projects.

“We worked together with Sullivan Engineering & Consulting Inc. on this dredging scheme. The dune we built has already successfully protected the property from various nor’easter storms,” commented Jon Hagenstein exclusively for Dredging Today.

“The channel that we dug allows for a wider passage for vessels transiting the Seapuit River. We used our mechanical dredge to dig in the channel and a portion of the project was dug with our excavator from shore.”

All equipment had to be mobilized to the beach by barge.
