All Set for Yamba Harbor Dredging Scheme

The NSW Government has committed $455,000 for navigational dredging of Yamba boat harbor to improve boating access, Clarence MP, Chris Gulaptis announced yesterday.

“This important project will improve safe navigation for the commercial fishing fleet and recreational vessels,” Mr Gulaptis said.

“Around 20,000 cubic meters of sand will be dredged from the channel and pumped on to Whiting Beach where it will be used for nourishment of the sands on the beach.

“The NSW Government is committed to delivering a sustainable dredging strategy to improve the accessibility and environmental health of our waterways,” Mr Gulaptis added.

The dredging contract was awarded to local company National Dredging Services, with work expected to begin on 26 April and take approximately 10 weeks to complete.

Funding for this project comes from the Dredging of Priority Waterways on the North Coast Program.
