PHOTO: City of Destin Dredging Work Moves Ahead

The City of Destin Government has just released the latest photo from the dredging work on the harbor channel, which is currently underway.

Shoaling near the tip of Norriego Point has caused the channel to narrow, the City said.

Panhandle Machine and Supply, Inc. from Blountstown, Fla. was contracted to do the emergency dredging in this area, according to the Destin Log.

Deepening and widening operations on the channel are being undertaken to better allow for boat traffic in and out of Destin Harbor.

The project will likely pause this weekend due to the heavy boat traffic and will resume Monday morning.

This dredging scheme is slated to be complete before July 4th weekend.
