Wabasha Dredging Project on Display

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District employees and members from Congressman Tim Walz’ staff were on the site recently to discuss dredging operations near Wabasha, Minnesota.

The Corps and its contractor, J.F. Brennan Company, Inc., from La Crosse, Wisconsin, are in the process of removing around 900,000 cubic yards of dredged material from a temporary storage island near Wabasha.

USACE contractor has moved 200,000 yards of material from Crats Island to a permanent location at the Wabasha Gravel Pit.

The project is expected to be complete by the end of 2017.

Maintaining the navigation channel is vital to ensuring bulk commodities such as corn and soybeans can be safely and efficiently transported to global markets.
