Completion of the Port Sabetta Dredging Project Set for 2017

Dredging works at the Port Sabetta are to be completed by the end of this year, according to Vitaly Sknarin, Sabetta Project Coordinator at USK MOST.

This was said during the 4th International Forum of Dredging Companies held two days ago in Moscow.

The forum – organized by PortNews Media Group in conjunction with the FSUE ‎‎Rosmorport‎‎ and the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) – gathered some of the most important names in the industry.

During his speech, Sknarin took the opportunity to present timetable for the Port Sabetta works in 2017. Although he did not specify the date of the completion, Sknarin said that if all goes according to schedule dredging at the port will be finished by the year’s end.

Some estimates show that total amount of dredged material that will be removed from the port (including the 2017 season) could easily reach 70 mln cbm.

Just last year, the scope of the performed dredging work at Sabetta totaled 17.5 million m³, involving 23 units of equipment. This resulted in creation of a water area for auxiliary and cargo berths as well as a 315 meter wide approach channel with a bottom level of -15.1 meters and a 205-meter wide seaway canal of -15.1 meters.
