Open House on Bulls Island Dredge Material Program Set for Today

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, will host an open house today, at the Ottawa City Hall, to discuss a proposed Bulls Island dredge material management plan.

A presentation will be given at 6 p.m. that will cover information on the Corps’ evaluation of dredge material placement alternatives and their efficiency in maintaining the 9-foot navigation channel in the Illinois Waterway.

It will also provide details on the potential for beneficial use of dredge material for the Greater Ottawa area, said USACE.

Before and after the presentation, Corps of Engineers staff will be on hand to answer questions and receive comments, according to the official Rock Island District’s announcement.
