Draught levels at Indian ports continue to be low as compared to the international standards. While the dredging demand has increased in recent years, there has not been a corresponding increase in capacity despite the entry of private players. The mandatory requirement of increasing draught levels by at least 14 metres by the end of the Twelfth Plan, major planned investments in port infrastructure, the increasing size of vessels, and the growing focus on coastal shipping and inland water transport will further drive the demand for dredging.
