Dredging around St. Maarten’s new mega cruise pier

The area around the pier is dredged to make it deep enough for the 220,000-tonne cruise ships it has been designed to berth. Sand will be stored on the land next to Dr. A.C. Wathey Cruise and Cargo Facilities until it is trucked to Pond Island or funnelled via a pipeline to Great Salt Pond for the foundation of the Ring Road.
