The state Canal Corp. worked Wednesday to begin dredging the Utica Harbor in North Utica.
The project will take about 3 months – including more than a month at the harbor’s “neck” and several more months of digging out the contaminated sediments at the harbor floor, Canal Corp. officials said.
Eventually, land around the harbor will be transferred to a development corporation controlled by the city that then will seek developers and a combination of commercial, residential and recreation projects.
