Belgium: Jan De Nul is Lowest Bidder for the Construction of a New Lock in Ivoz-Ramet on the River Meuse, Upstream from Liege

The new lock, with dimensions of 225 m x 25 m, will make the Meuse between Namur and Liège more accessible for vessels up to 4,500 ton.

The construction of the lock is challenging because it is located in the middle of the river Meuse. The first, existing lock in Ivoz-Ramet has to stay into service during the entire project. The contract will be carried out in joint venture with Galère (Royal Bam) and is worth 43,83 million euros (VAT exclusive). The works will normally start in March 2011 and will take 45 months.
