India: Andhra Pradesh Plans to Establish Second Major Seaport

Following the success of Visakhapatnam Port, which has played a notable role in encouraging accelerated expansion in the region and considerably making contribution to the country’s trade and development, the state of Andhra Pradesh in India announces it would like to establish another major seaport.

All its efforts have been directed to urging the national government to facilitate this, stating that the whole concept would further enhance the state economy and port sector.

By the year 2020, 54% of all cargo should be handled by the present non-major ports since they are currently being improved.
