USA: Langley Pond’s Sediment Sampling Underway

Langley Pond's Sediment Sampling Underway

The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control is sampling the sediment of Langley Pond.

The sampling operation includes a pontoon boat and other watercraft. It is expected to conclude in mid-to-late February.

The sampling will not interrupt any activities in or around Langley Pond.

DHEC will be testing sediment from the bottom of Langley Pond to determine the extent of contamination caused by pollution along Horse Creek from decades ago.

DHEC plans to hold a community meeting this summer to share test results with residents.
