Lebanon: Tripoli Port Expansion Project Progresses Well

February 2, 2012 witnessed the completion ceremony of Phase II Expansion Project of Lebanese Tripoli Port. The ceremony was attended by Mikati as the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Wu Zexian as Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Ge Hua as commercial counselor, and Li Guowei as General Manager of the UAE Regional Company of CHEC, etc.

On the ceremony, Mikati highly spoke of Phase II Expansion Project of Tripoli Port and thanked CHEC for its efforts to construct ports of Lebanon.

After completion of the project, Tripoli Port will be the second port with container terminal in Lebanon after Beirut Port. Tripoli Port will play a significant role in economic development of the north of Lebanon and even the surrounding countries.

The contract value of the project is USD 58 million, with a construciton period of 18 months. The contract mainly covers 600 meter long terminal bank line, dredging of three million cubic meters and land backfilling of 780,000 cubic meters.
