Thailand: Dredging Project Will Bring Benefits to Western Bangkok, Says NREM

The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry has estimated that the canal dredging project in western Bangkok will help increase the floodwater release capacity by 30%.

Natural Resources and Environment Minister Preecha Rengsomboonsuk inspected the canal dredging project in Thawi Watthana district. The Department of Water Resources has begun dredging six canals in the district, which altogether covers 23 kilometers in combined length.

The operation is expected to finish in May and estimated to help release flood water to the Thawi Watthana Canal and Tha Chin River at 30% faster than normal pace.

Besides, the Department has also prepared to dredge three canals in Nakhon Pathom province to prevent flooding in the Buddhamonthon religious park.
