Nigeria: Representatives Accuse NPA of Undermining Investment

The Nation reports that members of the House of Representatives and concessionaires have accused the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) of undermining investments at various ports across the country.

Members of the House of Representatives and concessionaires also flayed the NPA for its failure to commence the dredging of Calabar Port in line with the concession agreement.

Chairman of House Committee on Privatisation and Commercialisation, Khadijat Bukar Ahmed, noted that the delay in the dredging of all the ports around the country would amount to loss of revenue to both government and investors. She regretted the diversion of ships to Cotonou and Lome due to port congestion.

The investors however, threatened to go to court if NPA fails to fulfill its obligation and provide enabling environment for investors to operate efficiently.
