Honolulu Plans Waimalu Stream Maintenance Dredging

According to Pacific Business News, the City and County of Honolulu is taking bids on a contract worth a little more than $5 million to do maintenance dredging on Waimalu Stream.

The work would include dredging accumulated sediment on Waimalu Stream and Punanani Channel and disposing of it in the South Oahu Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site, the contract specifications indicated.

Material that can’t be disposed of at that site will have to be taken elsewhere. And the city estimates that 43,460 cubic yards of materials will have to be dredged.

The deadline for submitting sealed bids is April 26.
