EUROGATE Presents German Container Terminals in South America

EUROGATE will once again be represented at this year’s “Intermodal South America” logistics trade fair. The show opens its doors from 10 to 12 April 2012 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

At the “German Ports” joint stand, EUROGATE will present Germany’s only deep-water container terminal in Wilhelmshaven in addition to its two German seaport locations in Bremerhaven and Hamburg. From August 2012, Europe’s leading container terminal operator will handle the world’s biggest container vessels with no access restrictions and independently of tidal fluctuations.

The South American container market is experiencing strong growth. Ever larger shipping vessels are calling at the continent’s ports. The most important goods transported between South America and Europe include machinery and machine tools as well as meat and fish products. It also offers food exporters from South America an interesting alternative, since a modern seaport terminal for transshipment of refrigerated and frozen cargo as well as fruit and vegetables, which provides a wide range of value added services through to Europe-wide distribution, is available in the immediate vicinity of the port handling facilities.

In addition to the EUROGATE company presentation at the joint “German Ports” stand, talks specifically concerning Wilhelmshaven are also scheduled with shipping companies.

“Intermodal South America” is among the biggest logistics trade fairs in South America. This year, 450 exhibitors will be represented, who expect to welcome around 45,000 trade visitors. EUROGATE is the only container terminal operator active at all three German seaport locations. It supports cooperation between the German seaports in a bid to strengthen the overall position of Germany as a business and port location and is therefore represented under the “German Ports” umbrella brand.
