Pakistan: Karachi Port on Growth Track

Karachi Port on Growth Track

According to a spokesman of the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the Port has increased its capabilities to accommodate and provide safe berthing to 12.5 metres draught container vessels on two container terminals.

This was a long pending demand of the Port users in order to upgrade their vessels,” he said.

Very soon the draft of newly constructed berths will be increased by 13 metres. All the dredging flotilla is already deployed on these berths.

“After assuming the charge as Chairman KPT, Aslam Hayat took all the possible steps to enhance the shipping activity of Karachi Port and this increase of draft is the first step in this direction,” the spokesman concluded.
