Australia: GPC Holds Community Information Stall

GPC Holds Community Information Stall

GLADSTONE Ports Corporation’s Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project (WBDDP) held a community information stall at the Calliope Markets last Sunday.

The WBDDP stall had information about environmental conditions, water quality, seagrass and dredging in the Gladstone harbour.

Gladstone Ports Corporation’s (GPC) media advisor Lee McIvor said the information stall was set-up for local people to ask questions and get the key facts about the dredging project.

WBDDP environmental scientists were at the information stall and discussed with the public the environmental conditions and mitigations of the project,” Ms McIvor said.

Many people collected information about the project and asked a number of questions where we were more than happy to answer them.”

GPC CEO Leo Zussino said the WBDDP information stall is just one example of how the project is open and accountable to the public.

GPC is committed to carrying out the dredging project with respect for the local community,” Mr Zussino said.

That is why I encourage the community to ask questions and get the facts about the project.”

The next WBDDP information market stall will be held at BAM in Tannum Sands on 2 June.
