Anthony D Bates Advises Saundersfoot Harbour on Dredging Options

On behalf of the Saundersfoot Harbour Commissioners Anthony D Bates (ADBP) undertook an assessment of the optimum dredging methods that may be employed to maintain the required navigational depths.

Saundersfoot Harbour is a drying harbour in South West Wales with a spring tidal range of approximately 7m. The harbour was initially used for coal and iron ore loading and subsequently pig iron and firebricks from local works, but is now predominately used for fishing and recreation.

The report completed examines the various technical, logistical and legislative constraints onsite and describes various suitable options and budget costs for dredging to be undertaken within the inner harbour area and approaches at Saundersfoot Harbour. The report submitted will assist the Harbour in future budgeting and operations planning.
