The work on new Baku International Sea Trade Port complex in Alat settlement located 65 km south from Baku is progressing according to the schedule.

Deputy Transport Minister Musa Panahov has informed that work on the port construction is underway and to date dredging work has been finished by about 60%.

He said: “ Civil work is carried out in coastal zone of the port, railway and car road construction is underway, land work has been done.”

ABC.az reports that The Port will cover the 400-hectare territory, including 100 ha for the International Logistics Centre.

At the first stage the centre territory will be 50 ha with storages with 800,000 sq m of floor space and areas for service of 100,000 standard containers. The centre construction will be conducted on PPP and BOT principle.

The contractor’s task (Van Oord, The Netherlands) is dredging a navigation channel with length of 7 km and width of 160 m in water area of the new Port.
