USA: Army Corps Seeks Solution for Matanzas Pass Shoaling

According to nbc-2.com, Lee County and the US Army Corp of Engineers is looking at ways to fix shoaling at Matanzas Pass.

Boaters say sand is filling in near Bowditch Point, likely made worse by Tropical Storm Debby.

Some boaters say Matanzas Pass at the north end of Fort Myers Beach is half as deep as it was weeks ago.

Lee County officials have asked the Army Corps of Engineers in Jacksonville to come up with solutions.

Steve Boutelle, Operations Manager for the county Division of Natural Resources, says the Corps is working on a detailed evaluation of the channel, reports nbc-2.com.
