Macauhub reports that a lot of cubic metres of sediment will soon be removed from the access channels and other operational areas of the Maputo port.

This dredging project, which will be carried out by dredging companies Empresa Moçambicana de Dragagem (Emodraga) and Denmark’s Rohde Nielsen, is intended to get depth back to the 11 metres achieved during a previous dredging operation.

The planned maintenance dredging is due to begin this month and will take an expected four to six weeks, according to information provided by the port authority.

This major dredging project will be carried out by a Rohde Neilsen dredger that is due to arrive in Maputo in the next few days.
