Saudi Arabia: SPA Inks Port Development Contracts

The Saudi Ports Authority (SPA) signed a number of contracts worth SR 615 million (US$164m) for the development of King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, Dhuba Port in Tabuk, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu and Yanbu Commercial Port.

According to arabiansupplychain.com, a container wharf will be constructed at Dhuba at a cost of SR 174.46 million and two wharfs at King Fahd port spending SR 144.38 million.

A new wharf for services and receiving ships, recreation boats and yachts will be established in Yanbu port at a cost of SR 103.97 million.

Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijri, the SPA president, said: “This wharf at Yanbu Commercial Port will be constructed in cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities to promote domestic tourism. The new projects would improve significantly the performance of Saudi ports.“
