The GUPC Consortium is claiming $573 million from the Panama Canal Authority for breach of contract, reports newsroompanama.com.

Ricardo Gonzalez, the Project Manager, said: “We’re not asking for anything more or less.”

Alemán Zubieta, the Chief Executive Officer of the Panama Canal Authority, stated that complaints are normal when the contractor faces different conditions and added: “They have their arguments and we have ours.”

According to newsroompanama.com, the GUPC was awarded the contract for design and construction of the third set of locks for $3.18 billion.

The project is six months behind the schedule.
