Ireland: Officials Invite Bidders for Dunmore Dredging

Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, has announced tender for the Dunmore East dredging project.

The services of a suitably qualified and experienced consultancy firm with expertise in civil and marine engineering is required for the proposed maintenance dredging at the Dunmore East Fishery Harbour Centre (FHC), Co. Waterford, Ireland.

The proposed works involve the dredging and disposal or reuse of some 17,000 m3 of contaminated sediment.

Results of previous site investigations have shown there are high concentrations of contaminants such as TBT and heavy metals in the sediments within the harbour basin.

Consultations with relevant authorities have confirmed that disposal of dredge spoil to sea is not environmentally viable and therefore the dredged material will need to be disposed of (or reused) on land.

The deadline for this tender is October 3, 2012.
