Mr. Idris Umar, the Minister of Transport, has assured businessmen in the Calabar that Calabar River will soon be dredged.
“Government was not only going to dredge the channel but also looking for a channel manager that would manage same after it had been dredged, as was done with the Lagos and Onne channels,” said Umar.
According to vanguardngr.com, Senator Liyel Imoke solicited for the intervention of the Federal Government to accord Calabar port a free port status.
